Ms. Shurland Moya Perry's Obituary
Today we gather to celebrate the life of Shurland Perry
She was born on September 18, 1962, on the beautiful island of Trinidad and Tobago, to Janice Perry(deceased)and Roger Williams. As a young girl, she was raised by her grandmother Beryl,(deceased )who became her support system and helped shape the strong woman she would grow to be.
She later became a mother herself to two daughters, Calisher and Crystal. As a single mother, she worked tirelessly to provide for us and to make sure we had what we needed. Her strength, determination, and love carried our family through many seasons of life. For nearly twenty years, she worked in the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands and Survey in Trinidad, dedicating herself to her job and her responsibilities.
In 1998, she made a brave decision that would change our lives. She migrated to the United States in search of a better future, carrying her two daughters with her and holding tightly to the dream of building a new life. With the support of friends and family, she began her journey in America.
She continued her education, attending Allen’s High School, and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Her patience, kindness, and caring spirit led her to work as a home health aide, where she cared for many people over the years. Her clients adored her because she didn’t just do her job — she truly cared about the people she helped.
One of the greatest joys of her life was becoming a grandmother. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Alex Dylan (deceased),Kyle, Amiya ,Semaj and U-majesty and she loved them deeply. She would do anything for them, and they brought so much happiness into her life.
She experienced both joy and hardship in her life, but through it all she stayed focused on her family. Being apart from her at times was difficult for me, and I often missed her hugs and laughter. But I was grateful that I was able to close that distance when I came to the United States to support her when she needed me most.
She spent many years living in New York, where she built lasting friendships, stayed connected with family, and continued to work hard helping others. In 2024, after she became ill, I brought her from the Big Apple to Texas. She grew to love Texas — though she definitely still missed New York.
In the end, she achieved what she set out to do. She came to America, built a life, worked hard, cared for others, and surrounded herself with people who loved her. She lived her dream of a fresh start and found happiness in the family and friends who stood by her.
She was strong, loving, and compassionate. Her life was a testament to resilience, sacrifice, and love for family.
Though she is no longer with us, her legacy will live on through her children, her grandchildren, and everyone whose life she touched.
Her memories are lived through her children: Calisher and Crystal grandchildren: Alex Kyle Amiya Semaj and U-majesty .
