Mary Nell Phillips' Obituary
Mary Nell Phillips, affectionately known as Mae Nell, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family in her home.
Born Mary Nell Brazile in Shreveport, she was the beloved daughter of Phoebe and Robert Brazile. Mary Nell graduated from Green Oaks High School as a member of the class of '77 and attended Southern University in Shreveport. She married James Phillips in 1983 and they enjoyed over 20 years of marriage and remained friends until her death.
Mary moved to Texas in 1993, with dedication to Parkland Hospital, DART Transit Company, and Evolent Healthcare for 30 years, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and community.
Mary Nell was a devoted mother to Katrina Lasha and Kentel Lamon (Valisha), and a cherished grandmother to Kaniya Lashay, Kaleah Lashae, and Kyle Lee Phillips.
Mary Nell was predeceased in death by her sisters Diane Williams, Barbara Ann Dotie, and Linda Kay Walker. She is survived by her sisters Shelli, and Kamala Brazile, brothers Robert Jr. (Carmella), Napoleon (Earlene), and Darrell Brazile. Mary Nell was a beloved aunt to her fifteen nieces, nine nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews, whom she adored and cherished deeply.
Mary Nell was known for her vibrant spirit and love for her family. She was deeply involved in community activities, supporting various local organizations and always lending a helping hand to those in need. She received immense joy from spending time with her family and friends, cherishing every moment she shared with them.
Her warm personality and unwavering belief in being a good person touched the lives of everyone she met. Mary Nell leaves behind a legacy of kindness and grace, and she will be missed dearly by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
