Mrs. Mary Margaret Belanger's Obituary
Mary Margaret Moran Belanger passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 14th, 2026. Mary was born on November 8th, 1939, in Detroit, MI and was 86 years old at the time of her passing. She was a beloved daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, mother, wife, grandmother and friend. She and her husband, Jerry, spent decades sailing, both cruising and racing, in the Great Lakes and were active members of the Ford Yacht Club on Grosse Ile, Michigan. After retirement, the couple continued to pursue their love of sailing and spent a few years sailing in the Caribbean before settling down in North Port, FL for 20 years. In 2024 they moved to McKinney, TX.
Mary was a generous friend with an adventurous spirit. Always either exploring or planning her next trip, Mary was always active throughout her life whether it was sailing, cycling, camping or traveling. She left her imprint on everything and everyone she met. Mary’s passion for sailing was matched by her involvement in the community, whether by volunteering on committees, racing or serving as an advocate on the board.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jerome (Jerry) Belanger, her daughter, Dawn Lovejoy, husband, Mark Lovejoy, their children Brendan and Connor Pauley who live in Massachusetts, her son, Michael Belanger, his partner, Suzanne Hogan, his daughter, Michelline (Mish) Belanger in Michigan, and her son David Belanger, his wife Terri Belanger, and their children Tricia Mark, Jenna Mark, Lucas Belanger, Jia Belanger, and Kate Belanger in Texas – all of whom will forever cherish her memory.
Currently there are no plans for a service. More details on a potential gathering will be communicated to family later. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Michael J Fox Foundation in support of Parkinson's research.
