Markita’s kindness and genuine care for others will always stay with me. When she learned my mom was battling breast cancer, she took the time to listen, offer comfort, and gently provide me practical suggestions in what where some overwhelming days. What makes her love even more remarkable is that she did all of this while facing her own health battle. She continued to check in on both my mom and me. I’m grateful for genuine friends like Markita and her family. I will miss her beautiful smile and kind heart but look forward to the day we will see her again.

What can I say about Mar? Let me start by saying she was an amazing wife, mom, and friend. She has been a best friend to my daughter, Bran, for as long as I can remember. If I talked to one of them about something...anything, I could be sure the other one knew everything there was to know about it. These girls talked every day and shared so many parts of their lives. They loved each other without limits and were there for each other, no matter what was going on. As a mother, you hope your children find a friend like Mar at some point in their life. Bran found hers and Mar found hers. I am so glad I was a part of this friendship. I loved Mar so much for being the person she was. She was so kind to everyone she met. She made me laugh every time I talked to her. She was a blessing to know. I will always remember her and keep her in my heart.
