Lawrence Craig Texada's Obituary
On November 15, 2025, God in His Infinite Wisdom called Lawrence Craig Texada to his Final Rest.
Lawrence was born on Jan. 14, 1960, in Port Arthur, TX. He was the beloved son of Remus and Edith Texada. Lawrence accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized as a member of Guiding Star Baptist Church.
Lawrence graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Port Arthur, where he was an exceptional running back on the football team. He went on to attend Henderson State University on a full athletic scholarship.
Lawrence was a key member of the team and a true man about campus. He was well liked by all; very few students didn’t know him or recognize him.
After college, Lawrence was taken in the eighth round of the 1982 NFL draft by the New York Jets. He was later released and traded to the USFL’s Michigan Panthers, who went on to win the league championship in 1983.
After football, Lawrence pursued a career as a businessman and worked more than 40 years as a human resources professional.
In 1984, Lawrence married Beverly Nash, the love of his life, whom he met at Henderson State University. The couple shared a beautiful life and raised four children.
Lawrence was a loving husband and father whose life was defined by compassion, integrity and faith. He devoted himself to helping others, always seeking to brighten the lives of those around him.
A man of deep spiritual conviction, he cherished his family above all and poured his heart into every relationship he formed. Known for his kindness and genuine warmth, he touched countless lives through his work, his church and his unwavering ability to make everyone feel loved — he truly never met a stranger.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents Remus and Edith Texada, as well as his sisters, Mable Texada Rasul and Quintella Texada Dancy.
He will be profoundly missed by his wife of 41 years, Beverly; his daughters, Shlundria Patrice, Haley and Kindell; his son, Shawn (Alicia); and his granddaughters, Alayna and Bianca.
He also leaves behind his siblings Dolly T. Spencer (Lewis Sr.); Remus Texada Jr. (Cely); Wendy T. Mosely (Stephen); Roydell Texada; Erica T. Lewis (Michael); Tamecus Texada-Brown (Kenny); Kip Texada (Charlotte); and Nikita Texada.
In addition, Lawrence had a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends, who will always carry his memory in their hearts.
His legacy of love, generosity and faith will live on through all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing and his spirit be forever remembered.
