As adolescents, my brother Merrill and I used our monthly visit to the national library to go the Uncle Keith’s place of work, the Bank of Guyana. He always surprised us with some "pocket money to buy snacks" . Visits to uncle Keith left a lovely taste in our mouths!
While still on duty, he would guide my brother and I across the road, that busy intersection of Bank of Guyana and the national museum. Uncle Keith cared about us as his relatives and he showed that.
One day during the 1980s I received a message from the front desk of my workplace that "Uncle Keith is downstairs" I was happy to get that "bear hug"! He mentioned that he was on vacation. His place of accommodation was in the same street as my office. He would not leave Guyana without looking for me. His visit was a wonderful, pleasant surprise.
Uncle Keith never stop caring and he demonstrated that in 2024. He mentioned that using the local telephone directory he found my listing. He called. He, Mary and I met at the Hermanston lodge in Georgetown. It was a memorable and pleasant reunion for me.
For me, there was only one uncle Keith.
