Elnora Coulter (Wagner)'s Obituary
Elnora Coulter (Wagner) was born on December 17, 1933 to Henry and Katie Wagner in Bon Weir, Texas.
Elnora moved to California when she was just 16 years of age. One of her older brothers who lived there, asked their father if they could take Elnora to California to help take care of their two children while he and his wife worked. That’s how she learned how to cook and bake so well. A few years later, she met and married Lionel Coulter and from that union she had a son Leslie Glenn and a daughter, Jacqueline Denise.
Elnora gave her life to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as a young girl. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church in San Pedro, California for more than fifty years where she was a devoted member of the Sunday School Ministry and the Missionary Baptist Choir.
Elnora worked for more than 30 years at Harbour UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California for the department of Ophthalmology before retiring in March of 1993. She built many friendships while working there. After retirement, she always wanted to learn how to read music and play the piano, which she learned from a community program. She had many favorite pastimes including traveling, singing in the church choir and spending time with family. But her favorite pastime was going to second-hand stores with her best friend, Dorthy Gravett.
Elnora was preceded in death by her father, Henry Wagner Sr. and her mother, Katie Sampson Wagner, her brothers U.B., Charles, Henry Jr., Arthur, Bailey, George and her sisters Exvie Wagner, Lucille Tyler, Flora Mae Smith, Tiera Thibodeaux, Florida Cheatham and Ora Davis, and her great-grandchild Jada Fre Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother JP Wagner (Helen), sister in-law, Brenda Ann Jepsen (Lowell) son Leslie Glenn Coulter (Peggy) and daughter Jacqueline Coulter Williams, as well as her grandchildren Skye Leslie Scott (Dwayne), Christine Denise Reyes (Mario) and Jazrine Darlene Coulter and great-grandchildren Sierra Skye Myers, Tessa Rae Olsen (Austin), Elijah Miles Scott and Noah Matthew Reyes. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
