Story of a Warrior
Detrich was born on January 18, 1957, in Memphis, Tennessee to the parents of Nancy Allen and Arbrie Artison Sr. He was nurtured and cared for by William and Lillian Buchanan.
Detrich graduated in 1974 from Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in History.
He married Bernice Harris on August 15, 1980, and spent the rest of his entire life with her in love.
Detrich accepted Christ as Lord and Master of his soul at an early age and walked as a disciple of Jesus throughout his days. He was a member of the Rising Star Baptist Church for the past 30 plus years. He served faithfully in his church, working with the audio/visual sound ministry. He also was a co-leader in the Marriage Ministry, sung in the men’s choir and regularly attended Sunday School. He visited the sick and shut-in on a regular basis while assisting with communion, prayers and wearing a smile.
He was a committed participant in his Bible Study Fellowship classes. He loved gospel music and found great solace in going before the Lord in praise and worship.
Detrich retired from Grand Prairie Independent School District in 2022 where he was a Food Service Manager. He spent many days serving in the community distributing food with the Bibleway Family Church in Grand Prairie, TX.
