Deedra taught me that friendship isn’t about proximity or frequency; it’s about consistency of heart. It’s about being there for the big moments and being selfless in the quiet ones.

I am going to miss picking up the phone and falling right back into step with her. But I am so incredibly grateful to have had her in my life for so many years. To borrow a phrase from Wicked that perfectly captures what she meant to me: "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good."

Such a wonderful, loving, stoic, and intelligent woman of God. Her face and heart never held onto anything but a smile. Not a soul could say she wasn’t positive, genuine, and a humble inspiration.
