From Malachi Benjamin & Ahmwanah Rawach,
Today, we mourn the loss of a great man and a dear friend. Most knew him by his Hebrew name, Sharap. My wife called him Pops, but I called him Elder Sharap, a name that reflects the immense love and respect I will always have for him.
We met the Boylan family at Passover in Texas in 2011. My wife and I traveled from Toronto to be baptized, as we had no one in Canada at that time, and I knew this was the Truth, I had been seeking. It was not until we reconnected in Egypt that we truly came to know the Boylan family and formed a lasting bond. Whether during Feast days or going out to the movies, Elder Sharap never hesitated to ask how we were doing or if we needed help with anything. He offered thoughtful, man-to-man advice, and whenever I had questions, he was always willing to help, except when we were replanting our trees ^^ Pops preferred to keep his hands clean unless he was in charge of the BBQ!
Among our fondest memories are the mornings we spent together at breakfast at Lucille’s Restaurant in New Cairo, Egypt. He always ordered the same meal: waffles or pancakes, eggs 'well done', and his coffee just the way he liked it. We came to appreciate that consistency as much as the conversations we shared. Our trip to Athens, Greece, was one of the rare occasions when we saw Pops in full family mode. His wife, sons and grandchildren were teasing him at dinner for a good twenty minutes. He never complained, but simply smiled, shook his head, and replied, “Maaaan, Whatever.” That was who he was: steadfast, surrounded by love, and quietly unforgettable:)
Elder Sharap had an old-school sense of style and took care with his appearance, from his hair and hats to his shoes and carefully matched clothing. He showed that same care in the way he loved others. Elder Sharap was quietly attentive and observed more than he spoke. Him and his family were often the first to arrive and the last to leave. His Spirit walks with us in Faith and memory until we see him again. He is the Fourth Gem in the Breastplate of the Tribe of Judah, Burnus LeRoy Boylan, Elder Sharap; YOU WILL BE MISSED...
Our deepest condolences are extended to his beloved wife, “Ma,” Sister Beverly (Thakalath Iyan), Elder Ramar and his wife, and Brother Micah and his family.
Shalam.
Love and Respect from Malachi Benjamin and Ahmwanah Rawach (Sylvia)
