To the Fitzpatrick family, especially Linda, I offer my prayers as you say so long for a while to Melvin. That jokester spirit, chuckle that accompanied his deep throat laugh, and his refusal to be insulted by turning a tight situation into something good made Melvin special. As noted in every note, his love of life made the world a better place.
He was the link that kept good account of the FAMU High class of 1963 ... and we could count on at least one call per year to give and get updates.
Melvin Fitzpatrick was God's gift of "love your neighbor" and oh, if we could be like him. Well now, the best way to preserve that legacy, is to do as he would do. I'm game.... what about you?

My heart is heavy since the passing of my dear friend, Melvin. Reflecting on our countless adventures, laughter-filled birthday celebrations, steadfast friendship through every surgical procedure, and presence at every family event, I'm reminded that Melvin was an integral part of every moment, whether joyful or challenging. Though he may not appear in many pictures, he was always behind the lens, capturing life's precious moments as our photographer and videographer. Melvin's spirit was eternally ready for the next adventure, his heart always prepared to share a story, and his creativity always sparked to show me a new video he'd crafted. While words can't capture the depth of our memories, one truth remains - Melvin's impact on my life has been profound. Saying I'll miss him seems inadequate; instead, I'm overflowing with gratitude for the treasure trove of memories we created together! 🙏🏾

I will always cherish getting a chance to visit my Dallas neighbor, Mr. Melvin, with Justin. He was incredibly sweet and loved talking about, and showing, all his home-made videos and pictures. He taught me to make sure life is captured, so we can look back and remember the love in those moments forever.
